Jr. Girls Volleyball
2017/18 Volleyball Info
November 2017 - Congratulations to the Jr. Girls Volleyball team on a season well played. The girls finished their league season in second place after a tough final against Watrous. They then competed in Pre-District play in Watrous where they played some good volleyball against some tough teams. Thank you for a great season girls. It was a pleasure to coach you and watch you all come together as a team. Good luck to our grade 9 players Rileigh Reynoldson, Kiana Ehmann, and Francis Di as they move on to play senior volleyball next year. Keep working hard girls during the off season and I look forward to seeing your improvement and how your skills develop again next year.
October 2017 - The Jr. Girls volleyball team has progressed a tremendous amount over the last month! They continue to practice twice a week, play in league play on Thursdays, and have participated in another tournament. They played extremely hard on October 14 in Watrous where they made it to the final and came out with a second place plaque against Lanigan. The girls didn't take the easy way to the final but rather worked hard together to beat their competition and earn their second place finish. Way to go girls! The girls also managed to secure first place following league round robin play with 5 wins and 1 loss. They will participate in league playoffs tonight (Oct. 26) in Imperial. Thank you to the Imperial staff and students for refereeing, organizing the canteen for the night, and minor officiating all three games. The girls will also participate in Jr. Girls Pre-Districts this season on November 2 in Watrous. Games will begin around 2 pm and will conclude with the final later that evening. Keep and eye out in the next newsletter for how the girls finish out the end of their season!
September 2017 – The Jr. Girls Volleyball team has started their season off with some great successes and learning opportunities. They won their league home opener on September 21st against the Watrous Gold team by a margin of 10 points or more providing them with some much needed confidence in their abilities. They learned a difficult 6-2 rotation and how to play together as a young, combined two school team.
The girls continued to work together to demonstrate their skill at their home tournament held in Holdfast on September 23. The girls placed 3rd with some difficult games against the Watrous Blue team. It was an excellent turnout with great competition between the all the teams participating. Thank you Ms. Knorr for being the referee for the whole day, Mrs. Fahlman and her helpers for putting on a great canteen, and Aydon Burks, Anthony Rennie, Jacob Zehr, and Renee Moore for minor officiating the first and final matches.
The girls continue to practice twice a week and are continually improving. They will play their next home game in Holdfast on October 3rd against Viscount. They are also looking forward to their next Tournament in Watrous on October 14. This will be a 10 team tournament so it is bound to provide the girls with some great opportunities to work together and demonstrate their skill as a team.
Keep working hard girls! I look forward to watching you improve even more during the second half of our season.
