BUS LANE REMINDER
A reminder to parents/grandparents, preschool parents and visitors; to please refrain from parking in the BUS LANE between the hours of 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Also, when approaching a school bus that has its stop arm out and its flashing lights activated, as a driver:
- You must stop no closer than 5 m (15 ft.) from the front or back of the bus.
- You must not advance your vehicle until the bus driver turns off the flashing red stop lamps and deactivates the stop arm.
**Parents please remember that cellular phone use while driving is illegal. Even while the bus is stopped, drivers accessing their phones can become distracted. The two-way radio system eliminates any type of distraction caused by cellular phone usage. Please call Southland directly by calling 306-682-2558 or 306-682-5715 ext: 1 and they will contact the bus driver if needed.
Please review the attached bus rules with your children as all children may ride the bus at some point this year whether to get to & from school or class field trip.
Run Cancellation Procedures
- Runs should be cancelled when the temperature reaches -40 (Celsius) or -45 (Celsius) with the wind chill.
- Bus drivers are to make the determination to cancel their runs individually based on the conditions in the area of their route.
- Bus drivers are to contact EACH family on their route to advise of the cancellation of their run.
- Morning and afternoon runs are to be cancelled separately, therefore if the conditions causing the cancellation of the morning run change, then the afternoon run should be operated. If there is no change, then the afternoon run should be cancelled and all stakeholders informed.
